Ossining-on-the-Hudson

Julie Campbell modeled Crabapple Farm, Trixie's home, on her own home, Wolf Hollow.  Whereas Crabapple Farm sits on Glen Road, Wolf Hollow sits on Glendale Road.  Crabapple Farm is two miles from the Village of Sleepyside; Wolf Hollow is two miles from the Village of Ossining.  Both Sleepyside and Ossining are in Westchester County, New York, on the East Bank of the Hudson River.

Julie Campbell refers to "Sleepyside-on-Hudson" in both the Trixie Belden series and in the last book she wrote for the Cherry Ames series, Cherry Ames, Country Doctor's Nurse.  Golden Books, however, changed the name to "Sleepyside-on-the-Hudson" in their late 1970s oval edition of the TB series.  Random House has changed it back to Julie Campbell's version in their recent releases.
